๐ฆ Getting started
How do I add my first items?
Sign in at
bintrove.com, open
My Bins, and tap
+ Add. Snap a photo of each thing (the photo becomes the item), give it a name, pick a category, and set its location. Start with one bin you dig through often.
Can I add items from photos quickly?
Yes โ use Add from photos to turn a batch of pictures into items fast, then tidy up names and categories afterward.
Is it free?
Your first 30 items and 3 bins are free forever, no credit card. Paid plans start at just $2/month (billed annually, $24/year) when you need more.
๐ท๏ธ QR labels
How do QR labels work?
Every bin and item gets its own QR code. Stick the label on the bin, and anyone can scan it with a phone camera to instantly see what's inside โ no app required to view.
How do I print labels?
Open the Bin Labels tab and print from any home printer onto plain paper or Avery sticker sheets. For labels that last for years, use a Brother label maker (see the Labels tab for recommendations).
What do I scan with?
Any phone camera. Point it at the QR code and tap the link that appears โ it opens that bin's contents.
๐ Bins & locations
What's the difference between a bin and a location?
A location is where things live (Garage, Attic, Hall Closet, a storage unit). A bin is a container in that location. Give each a clear name โ "Holiday โ Garage Shelf A" โ so you always know where to look.
Can I see everything by location?
Yes โ switch My Bins to the Bins view to browse everything grouped by where it's stored.
๐ Moving
How does BinTrove help with a move?
- Packing: snap each box and give it a QR label โ an instant manifest, no marker scrawl.
- The move: set each box's location to its destination room ("Kitchen," "Primary bed").
- Unpacking: scan a box to see what's inside before you cut the tape, and unpack by priority.
๐ Reports & insurance
Can I make a home inventory for insurance?
Yes. Add a Value to each item as you go. Then open Reports to see your total value by category, and click Export CSV for an itemized list โ item, value, condition, location, photo link, and more โ ready to hand to your insurer or keep for your records.
Where do I enter an item's value?
In the item form, open Purchase & Value and fill in the Value (and optionally purchase date/vendor).
๐ฑ Get the app on your phone
BinTrove installs right from your browser โ no App Store needed โ so it opens full-screen with one tap and can use your camera to add items. Open the app at
